Etiquette

To my male readers.

Yesterday evening, October 6th, I went to a Lindy Hop dance party in Utrecht. The atmosphere was nice, some of the girls made an effort to be their most enchanting selves. There was a lot of dancing going on, too. But, I was horror struck when I saw the girls asking a fellow to dance with them and, even worse, leading another female follower onto the dance floor! I know modern women, and escpecially Dutch women, have tought their men to not open doors and not to climb stairs first. But when it comes to dancing, even a modern girl likes to be asked politely and be thanked for her time. Even if her dancing wasn't that good... (For wich there may be a million different reasons!) I think you should take an example by your neighnours south of the border. Dress up! Brush your teeth! Say "Would you would do me the honour to join me in this dance". All those big girls will loosen up for sure. You know, it isn't just about the dancing, it is also about courtship. And one friendly word a day can do so much good!

I'm sure my friend Reinildis van Ditzhuyzen has something usefull to say about the subject, too!

To my female followers ;).

I started knitting again! What a delight! I hadn't picked up those needles since childhood when I made my barbiedolls little outfits in jellow-and-pink. Check out this group of girls: Stitch 'n' Bitch. They're everywhere in The Netherlands! You can find initiatives like this in Gent as well and I'm sure you're all going to love mrs. Caroline Vogels' 'Naaicafé' in Rotterdam.

Enjoy!

Love,

miss Lucy
